The watermark is drawn on top of each page as real vector text, so it stays crisp at any zoom and adds very little to the file size. A diagonal, semi-transparent mark at 45° is the classic style; tiling repeats it across the page so it is harder to crop out.

Can the watermark be removed?
A determined user with a PDF editor can remove overlay text. For stronger protection, combine it with Compress PDF in Strong mode, which flattens pages to images.
Can I watermark only some pages?
This tool marks every page. Split out the pages you need first if required.
Which characters are supported?
Standard Latin characters (Western European). Other scripts are replaced with “?”.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
